22.03.2022: I might buy some more sun protection fluid if the weather keeps like this. But I don’t complain! It had some very strong gusts – no T-shirt weather for me yet.
Today my mission was to walk from Portloe to Mevagissey. I left my van in Mevagissey and cycled to Portloe to start my walk.
When you seek for a place to get and be happy you can travel the world – or just go into your garden. Sometimes it takes years to understand that the places where you feel happy and satisfied can be just around the corner. Key is a good social network and to rely on friends and family. An isolation can be poison for happiness.
Cornish people have a word for persons from outside of Cornwall: „Emmet“. Actually all non native Cornish people would be Emmets when they come to Cornwall as a tourist. The word does not necessarily mean a good or a bad person but there is a bit of a negative interpretation (my understanding).
What I am searching here? Happiness? Satisfaction? Yes, I am very happy and satisfied. But I am not sure if this is due to the long lasting daily outdoor activities or because I am on British ground an by the sea. I guess it is a bit of both. What I realize is that seeing the sea, the cliffs the beautiful nature day after day I start to reduce appreciation of this wonderful area. Because it feels a bit like “normal” now. And this is a mental pattern which I guess is a normal behavior. But to acknowledge that the brains works in this way is a big help to change point of views.
I am happy and satisfied here right now and when I am here for holidays. And yes, I am an Emmet. I would never be Cornish just by buying a property and starting a job here. This might bring me back to standard patterns and I potentially would feel tired and bored after a while. To conclude, it is better to be the Emmet and be that often and regularly like in the recent 15 years and have the roots and the homebase where it belongs to: Sauerland.
