14.04.2022: Cloudy, dry and maybe warm (at least while walking)
Today I ran the first and the last stretch of the SWCP – depending on which side you start. As I started in Poole at day „0“ and today is day -52 on the path, it took me 53 days in total. But actually I walked only 50 days so far and need to walk the final 3 days alone or with family or friends between Padstow and Perranporth.
I know that there are walkers who did the path in less than 30 days. The recommended itinerary of the SWCPA is 52 day. As I do (should) not compete or compare my days needed I am quite satisfied with the result. Keeping in mind that I roughly cycled about 200 km along the path to get back to my van and maybe had to walk 50-70 km in both ways as no other means of transport was available in February when I started. And yes, the first week I still had to work and could only walk like 3-4 hours late afternoon, early evening.
And today after almost exactly two month my family will reunite again. We have never been separated for such a long time until now and I hope there is no need to put it to the test again!
