Day -15 : day to day : Torcross to Dartmouth

10.03.2022: The weather was perfect for a walk, maybe already a little to warm (for the clothes I was wearing). Yesterday I planned to have a „day off“ today as the stretches the recent two days had been more demanding than I would admit. So, I went to bed fairly early yesterday and postponed video editing to this morning. To upload almost 2 Gbytes of data I decided to go to my best choice chain: The Wetherspoons – free WIFI and cheap drinks in the evening and cheap breakfast in the morning and free coffee refills. Well, this has not the charm of a decent British pub but it is a very good compromise in my situation during my SWCP adventure.

But what is meant by „day to day“. I tend to plan everything. And I often have to reschedule plans or are disappointed when things do not go according to plan. Before I started my journey I made a kind of blueprint for the first two weeks. I realized in those recent two weeks that a general direction and plan is suitable but not the detailed planning. This is best to be done when it is necessary. And if not necessary then it sometimes is even better to be spontaneous. This was the reason why I decided to skip the day off plan for today. After I finished my full English breakfast, three mugs of cappuchino and my uploads I decided to save the 7 pounds for the bus between Dartmouth and Torcross. But I did not want to walk the distance twice as I needed to recover a bit from the strains of the recent two days. And here it comes again out of my van – my little foldable friend the bicycle. At around noon I started from Paignton to Dartmouth and took the upper car ferry. I parked my car up the hill somewhere and started with my bike to Torcross. It felt hard to be back on my bike again. It will not become my favorite activity…

This bay I would most likely have not seen with this these colors as the forecast for tomorrow is rain. Hence, I decide what and how and if I walk or not. That kind of freedom is enormous – I just start to appreciate that! And this brings me back to the topic „day to day“. I knew that already but it is hard for a structured and ahead thinking person to leave tracks and unfocus but focus on the day. Not spending too many thoughts about next days, weeks, months or years. Be present, here and now. Focus on the ground, on your feet to avoid falling down.

It was a good day. Will see what tomorrow brings.
